Your Hostes at the Boutique Hotel in Sankt Anton
The Penz Family are pleased that you have chosen our bespoke boutique hotel in St. Anton. In our view, the landscape alone is reason enough to visit. Rest assured, however, that our number one goal is to make you feel completely comfortable and welcome in our Arlberg hotel.
Margherita
... the heart and soul of the Himmlhof. With her love of fine details, she has left her mark on the hotel’s interior. Her favourite place to be? In a good position to help her guests and family! Early in the morning, you’ll find her in the kitchen preparing food. Afterwards, she can be found at reception. In the afternoon, she busies herself in the kitchen once more while preparing snacks. In between, Margherita always finds time to chat with guests!
Sebastian
... is a walking encyclopaedia when it comes to the Arlberg and the surrounding mountains. In addition, Sebastian runs the office and the technical department. In his free time you can meet him almost anywhere in the Arlberg region. Instead of struggling with Google, just ask him which places are really worth visiting while on holiday.
Christopher
... has hospitality in his blood and the Arlberg in his heart. After all, he’s always felt most at home working in hospitality. After studying tourism, he was inspired to go abroad. But his passion for the Himmlhof eventually led him back home. His powerful connection with the region rubs off on guests, especially if you ask him for his wine tips.
Julia
... works together with Christopher to sweeten the lives of all guests. Julia constantly strives for moments of happiness, which is why she swapped the Swedish northern lights for the Tyrolean Mountains. The Himmlhof and Christopher were the contact points for her own happiness, which she now shares with her guests as part of the family.
This is a place of soul and character that has experienced many changes while still remaining homely. The property has been part of our family since the 1950s and we can't imagine anything more beautiful than sharing our scenic location with you.
An Arlberg hotel
with history
The history of our hotel dates back to the 17th century. In former times, Tyrolean farmer families lived here in "house no. 34." In the summertime, they ploughed the fields, in the wintertime they enjoyed the natural peace and quiet. Here they could live a life of activity and serenity. Today, our 4-star hotel in St. Anton attracts those still in search of the rural idyll, a spiritual muse and pure relaxation. Amidst our welcoming ambience, rural charms and absolute comforts, discover the true meaning of the high life!
HOW THE YEARS
CONNECT US
Margherita’s grandparents were always adept at creating a welcoming atmosphere. From the moment the pair first turned the farmhouse into a small guesthouse, the Arlberg gained a new refuge of safety and security. Sepp and Gretl Staffler from South Tyrol ran the ‘Staffler’ as a simple but charming bed-and-breakfast until they were 83 years old.

In 1999 their granddaughter Margherita took over the reigns with her husband Sebastian. Finally, in the year 2002, Haus Staffler saw comprehensive renovation and reconstruction that increased the size of the building by one-third. Rooms and public areas were brought to the highest standards, tired furniture was replaced with a cosier version and more space was created for comfortable holidays. The Himmlhof was born!
FROM THE MOMENT YOU ENTER OUR BOUTIQUE HOTEL TODAY,
YOU’LL IMMEDIATELY FEEL AT HOME.
The welcoming ambience comes from the history that’s stored in the property’s thick walls and from the sense of security that has always prevailed. The old charms of the place are constantly being maintained and, if necessary, lovingly polished to keep pace with the times. In the meantime, the next generation is already getting involved: Their son Christopher has now joined the Himmlhof team. Meanwhile, his younger brother Raphael studies computer science in Munich.
